Hamilton Middle School
This week Hamilton came to speak to the students about 6th grade. We sent home a form that needs to be returned with some basic information and a music choice selection. This needs to be returned to Randall as soon as possible. Thanks!
**Family Orientation will be held via zoom. Look for zoom links to be sent to you next week.

Valentine's Day--Monday, February14th
- This is an optional activity. We only ask that if your 5th grader does decide to bring valentines, they will bring one for every child in the class. (Your classroom teacher will provide a list of names to your 5th grader.)
- On this day, your 5th grader will have some time to pass out valentines to their classmates.
- In order to comply with our Covid protocols, we ask that anything edible be individually wrapped or packaged.
Math
- We started Unit 5 this week.
- We worked on various strategies for multiplying whole numbers with fractions.
- We worked with area of objects with fractions for dimensions.
- We worked with conversion of liquid measurements.
- Continue to work on those math facts at home if your 5th grader is not fluent. This is critical at this point in their math progression.

- Next week we will begin another science unit on Earth Systems
- Word Work this week included review of past word work rules.
- Whole Group Reading involved all the 5th grades continuing with--Never Caught, the Story of Ona Judge . This is a true story of a slave who escaped from George and Martha Washington. Ask your child to share this story with you.
- We continue to read and respond to our Survival books.
- Students were assigned their Black History Month project. Each 5th grade may be doing this different. Ask your 5th grader what they will be researching, writing, and creating for this project.
